Getting to know the valley's farming sector: guided visit to a regenerative avocado farm

The Valley of Los Guájares grows avocados, olives, almonds, citrus, mangoes, custard apples and other fruit trees that are part of the territory’s agricultural landscape.

In this experience, you’ll visit a local farm accompanied by a farmer from the valley, who will show you how avocados and other fruit trees are grown from a more sustainable and regenerative perspective.

During the visit, you’ll get a close look at the importance of soil, water, biodiversity and responsible crop management in an environment shaped by subtropical and Mediterranean agriculture.

The experience includes a tasting of local products.

Yoga and relaxation in nature

A guided session led by a specialist in yoga, mindful movement and wellbeing, held in the natural surroundings of Los Guájares.

The activity is designed to slow your pace, stretch your body, breathe more calmly, and enjoy the silence, the light, the sound of water and the valley’s landscape. Depending on the group, the time of year and the chosen setting, it may include gentle yoga, breathing exercises, relaxation, meditation, mobility exercises, forest bathing, mindful hiking or small sensory practices such as connecting with nature.

A calm, accessible experience to connect with yourself, inhabit the valley more mindfully and experience the nature of Los Guájares through the body.

Interpretive route through the valley's Andalusi legacy: El Castillejo, irrigation channels, hamlets and the living memory of Los Guájares

A guided visit to the archaeological site of El Castillejo and the historical traces still preserved in Los Guájares: irrigation channels, terraces, narrow streets, old street layouts and traditional irrigation systems.

Accompanied by a local guide, you’ll discover how Andalusi communities settled this steep, fertile valley, shaping the landscape through water, agriculture and a network of hamlets connected to the land.

From the coexistence and blending of Muslim and Christian communities came a unique history, still felt in the villages, paths and landscape today. An experience to learn about, walk through and get closer to one of the territory’s most singular heritage sites.

Hiking and interpretive route through the valley's nature and mountain ranges

A guided route through the natural surroundings of the Valley of Los Guájares, crossing the Sierra del Chaparral, the Sierra de Los Guájares and the area around the Toba River — landscapes that frame the valley and offer some of its best views.

The activity involves walking among pine forests, terraces, subtropical crops and Mediterranean vegetation, discovering how mountain, water and agriculture coexist in a truly unique landscape. Along the way, the natural surroundings will be interpreted, paying attention to the flora, fauna, geology and the valley’s relationship with the Toba River and its springs.

The route can be adapted to the group’s profile. For more experienced hikers, an itinerary through the valley’s higher areas, ridges or peaks can be arranged, with panoramic views toward the inland mountains and the Costa Tropical. For a more relaxed profile, a route can be planned along the foot of the mountains and the areas near the river.

Ethnographic and cultural route through Los Guájares: Three villages, one living memory

A guided route through the valley’s three villages (Guájar Fondón, Guájar Faragüit and Guájar Alto) to discover Los Guájares through its history, traditional architecture, trades, flavors and the memory of those who live there.

Accompanied by a local guide, you’ll walk narrow streets, fountains, squares, churches, irrigation channels, old street layouts, viewpoints and corners that speak of the valley’s Andalusi origins, its agricultural past and everyday life in a truly unique rural setting.

The experience offers a closer look at local traditions, Guájares’ gastronomy, popular festivals, local produce and the stories that have shaped each village’s identity. Guájar Fondón, Guájar Faragüit and Guájar Alto share the same roots, but each keeps its own character, landscapes and particular way of living in the valley.

The water route: history and rural life in Los Guájares

Accompanied by a local guide or instructor, you’ll walk paths near the river, water springs, fountains, irrigation channels, ponds and old spaces linked to the traditional use of water. Along the route, you’ll learn how this resource has shaped the valley, enabling vegetable gardens, terraces, subtropical crops and ways of life deeply tied to agriculture.

The experience also offers a closer look at the ethnography of water: its use for irrigation, water supply, old mills, fulling mills and other uses linked to rural work and, in some cases, energy production. A route to understand how water doesn’t just run through the valley, but sustains and explains it.

Along the way, the river’s natural surroundings will be interpreted, paying attention to the flora, fauna, hydrogeological features, the valley’s subtropical climate, and the relationship between mountain, water and agricultural life.

Hiking and adventure through Los Tajos on the Guadalfeo River

A guided route through the area around the Guadalfeo River and Los Tajos de Los Vados, one of the most spectacular landscapes on the river’s final stretch before reaching the Costa Tropical. This spot connects directly with Los Guájares, since the Toba River, which flows through and gives life to the valley, meets the Guadalfeo along this stretch.

Along the way, you’ll discover a river canyon carved by the Guadalfeo, with vertical walls, riverside vegetation and unique rock formations shaped by water. The experience combines hiking, landscape interpretation, the ethnography of water and observation of the natural surroundings, exploring the river’s importance as a natural, agricultural and historical backbone of the territory: from its connection to the Sierra Nevada to its role in the irrigation systems of the Granada coast and the plains of Salobreña and Motril.

Depending on availability and the group’s profile, the experience can be complemented with an optional sport climbing or via ferrata activity in Los Vados, always with qualified professionals and in compliance with current regulations for the area.

Cultural visit to Salobreña and a beach day

Salobreña and Los Guájares are two nearby territories, connected by their agricultural landscape, shared history and water.

The trip to Salobreña is designed to enjoy a day that combines culture, a Mediterranean coastal landscape and the beach.

The visit includes exploring its historic center, white-washed streets, viewpoints, squares and traditional corners, discovering the relationship between the village, its castle, the old urban layout, the agricultural plain and the sea. Along the way, you’ll learn about its history, its Andalusi memory, its everyday life, its traditions and its connection to the Mediterranean. A cultural trip to discover one of the most unique spots on the Costa Tropical and understand its historical relationship with the coast, the plain and the Guadalfeo valley.

The visit ends with free time to enjoy the beach, walk by the sea, relax or take a swim.

Cultural visit to the Alpujarra of the Sierra Nevada

A cultural trip to the Alpujarra of the Sierra Nevada, a territory near Los Guájares deeply connected to the history, landscape and rural memory of the former Kingdom of Granada.

The visit includes exploring some of the most representative villages of the lower and middle Alpujarra, depending on availability and how the day is organized, to discover their traditional architecture, narrow streets, tinaos (covered passageways), fountains, irrigation channels, terraces, and their way of life tied to the mountains.

Along the way, the relationship between landscape, water, agriculture and history will be interpreted, exploring the Andalusi and Morisco legacy still visible in the villages’ layout, irrigation systems, terraced crops and the territory’s cultural memory.

The experience offers a glimpse into mountain valleys, whitewashed villages, viewpoints, historic paths, local gastronomy and ways of living that reflect its rural identity.

GuájaresLab is a rural Coworking & Coliving and a laboratory for tourism innovation and regenerative tourism located in the Valley of Los Guájares (Granada). A project to work, stay, experience the valley from within and connect with a rural ecosystem in regeneration.

No. Coworking is one of the project’s first tools, but GuájaresLab goes beyond that: it’s a laboratory for tourism innovation and regeneration, from which we want to activate new ways of living, visiting and caring for Los Guájares.
We work to connect regenerative tourism, local life, agriculture, nature, community and remote work, creating experiences and initiatives that bring value to both the visitor and the territory.

It’s the space from which we drive innovative tourism and rural experiences, services and initiatives that generate value for Los Guájares. The laboratory connects people, projects, local resources and institutions to activate a more respectful, cooperative and transformative form of tourism.

To us, it means a form of tourism that doesn’t just aim to reduce its impact, but to create positive value for the territory and for those who visit it. A form of tourism that cares for the valley, strengthens the local community and transforms the visitor’s experience.
You can get involved whether you’re a farmer, guide, artisan, resident, professional, entrepreneur, creative, researcher, local organization, or simply someone with an idea connected to the valley.

It includes access to a calm work environment, accommodation in the valley based on availability, and the chance to experience Los Guájares from within through an experience that combines remote work, community living, rest and activities linked to the regenerative tourism laboratory: walking, getting to know the local community, discovering products, landscapes and heritage of the territory, and interacting with the people and projects that give life to the valley.

 

The usual minimum stay is one week, so you can settle in calmly and make the most of the valley experience.
That said, it’s possible to inquire about single-day use, always subject to availability.

 

As a general rule, accommodation is in shared houses in the valley, designed to encourage community living and connection with other people during your stay.
Depending on availability and needs, we can also look into individual houses, rural accommodations or hotel-type accommodations in Los Guájares. We’ll help you find the option that best fits your stay.

Yes, whenever availability allows. Los Guájares is made up of Guájar Fondón, Guájar Faragüit and Guájar Alto, and the idea is that you can experience the valley from the place that suits you best.
That said, we especially recommend Guájar Fondón and Guájar Faragüit, since you can walk to the coworking space from there. From Guájar Alto, you’ll need to use the local bus, which usually leaves around 9:00 AM and returns around midday.

GuájaresLab is open to remote workers, digital nomads, creative professionals, entrepreneurs, researchers, students, small teams, families and anyone else looking for a calm, connected and meaningful rural stay.

Regular access to the coworking space is organized according to the schedule agreed for each stay. We want you to be able to work comfortably and flexibly, while also taking good care of the space and community living.
For longer stays or specific work needs, we can look into extended or 24/7 access options, always subject to availability and internal organization.

Yes. The space is designed for comfortable work and includes 1 GB symmetrical Wi-Fi, power outlets, comfortable desks, clear LED lighting, air conditioning, a unisex bathroom and a call room, along with the basic conditions needed for remote work in a quiet setting.

GuájaresLab isn’t just about offering accommodation and workspace. Its value lies in the valley that surrounds it and its regenerative approach: local community, agriculture, nature, heritage, rural experiences, and involvement in a living territory.

You can write to us on WhatsApp letting us know your approximate dates, the length of your stay, the type of accommodation you’re looking for and your work needs. We’ll get back to you with the available options and the corresponding quote.

We currently don’t have automatic online payment. To confirm your booking, you’ll need to pay a 40% deposit of the total amount via bank transfer, PayPal, Stripe, Bizum, or cash, whichever you prefer.
The remaining 60% will be paid before or upon arrival, as agreed with you during the booking process.

🚗 By car

  • The most convenient way to get to and around Los Guájares is by car. You can access it from the A-44 Granada–Costa Tropical motorway or the A-7 Mediterranean motorway, taking the turn-off toward the old N-323a road and then the GR-3204 regional road, which leads into the valley.
  • Approximate distances: 55 min from Granada, 1 h 15 min from Málaga, 20 min from Salobreña and 25 min from Motril.

🚌 By bus

  • There are daily buses connecting Los Guájares with Granada and Motril, the two nearest major cities. We recommend checking up-to-date timetables before traveling.

🚆 By train

  • The most convenient train stations are Granada and Málaga. From there you can continue by car, bus or taxi.

✈️ By plane

  • Málaga-Costa del Sol International Airport: approx. 1 h 15 min by car. It’s the international airport with the most connections.
  • Granada-Jaén Airport: approx. 55 min by car.

🚕 Taxi / transfer

  • We can help you arrange a taxi or transfer from Málaga, Granada, Motril, Salobreña, Almuñécar or other nearby towns.
